CLIA

All agents requesting a 2025 CLIA membership must recently finish a MainStreet training curriculum.

  • Agents who joined MainStreet before 5/16/2024 are required to complete the Annual Refresher Course (Click HERE for the ARC – you will be taken to an external site and may need to create an account.) and required to have booked at least $500 in travel in the past year.
  • New agents who joined MainStreet on or after 5/16/2024 are required to finish their New Agent MainStreet Qualification before applying for a CLIA membership. If you request your CLIA membership before finishing Qualification, your membership will pend for 30 days before being denied. CLIA does not issue refunds for the cost to apply for your individual agent membership ($139).

Email Alaina@parksavers.com if you have questions, and/or visit the “Qualifying for CLIA” tab.

—————-

Registering with CLIA is not required in order for agents to sell travel. You should only register if you plan to use agent benefits in the same calendar year you’re apply for.

  1. Visit cruising.org and create a standard account first. Click Login -> Create New Account
  2. Once you have your basic account set-up you’ll need to apply for your actual CLIA membership. Login and then click Join or Renew Membership under Individual
  3. Scroll down the page till you see the Company Affiliation section
  4. Add MainStreet Travel Agency as your company affiliation. Search using our CLIA # 00365415. If you search by name, make sure you choose the correct “MainStreet Travel” which is spelled as one word “MainStreet”
  5. Continue down the page to “Individual Agent Member Application” and start the application. Current membership fees are $139 per calendar year (2025 price)
  6. You will need to upload a recent photo of yourself during the application process so have one ready
  7. Be sure to ship the card to YOUR address and not the agencies
  8. Pay your membership fee and submit the application. We typically approve applications within 48 hrs or less

The final step in the registration process is to complete the State of the Cruise Industry training which is mandatory for any agent who has applied/received a CLIA membership.

Depending on when you applied for your CLIA, the State of the Cruise Industry training may or may not be available for you to take. It typically becomes available around early to mid March of each calendar year.

You will receive an email from CLIA when it becomes available. When you do you must login to your CLIA account and complete the training. You can typically find the training by clicking on the “My CLIA” tab.

Any agent who joins CLIA with an Individual Membership will receive access to bonus commission offers from several cruise lines.

You can see who and what is being offered as well as view your actual coupons by visiting this page on the cruising.org website.

CLIA will also mail you a coupon booklet with all the offers and details on how to redeem them. These instructions can also be found on the page above.

Each supplier pays these bonuses different so be sure to pay attention to how it will be sent. If it’s to the agency, you’ll need to submit a commission request for it.

All agents who request a CLIA membership must be active MainStreet travel agents. We define “active” as follows:

Agents who joined MainStreet over a year ago:

  • Complete the Annual Refresher Course (Click HERE for the ARC – you will be taken to an external site and may need to create an account.)
    • Agents can instead choose to complete the more thorough New Agent Qualification, as described in the third section below.
  • Have booked at least $500 in travel (not commission, just client costs) in the past 12 months – MainStreet will confirm on our end.

Agents who joined MainStreet less than a year ago but before 5/16/2024:

  • Complete the Annual Refresher Course (Click HERE for the ARC – you will be taken to an external site and may need to create an account.)
    • Agents can instead choose to complete the more thorough New Agent Qualification, as described in the third section below. This more thorough training is recommended for agents in this situation.

Agents who joined MainStreet after 5/16/2024:

Complete the full New Agent Qualification process, as outlined below:

For more details on Qualification, visit this page.

If you request your CLIA membership before finishing Qualification, your membership will pend for 30 days before being denied. You can finish your qualification during this time.  CLIA does not issue refunds for the cost to apply for your individual agent membership ($129).
